Meru Networks Announces New 802.11n i-Series Class of Enterprise Wireless Access Points
Beam-Forming Antenna Innovation, High Performance Design Delivers Industry Leading Service Levels for Aesthetically Demanding Enterprise Environments
SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 3, 2010 – Meru Networks, Inc., a pioneer in 802.11n enterprise networking, today unveiled a new series of high performance 802.11n wireless access points featuring a new Orthogonal Array Beam Forming™ (OABF) antenna system. The new i-Series, Meru’s most technologically advanced 802.11n access points to date, extend the high performance of Meru’s virtualized Wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions, designed to provide 99.99% wireless network availability, toll quality VoIP services, HD Video support, and wired-like reliability, into a compact design. The first model in the i-Series, the AP320i, was developed for environments that demand the most from products’ aesthetics yet expect the highest performance and best end-user experience. It features a new OABF antenna system in a low-profile, tool-free product enclosure designed to meet enterprises’ aesthetic demands, while exceeding performance expectations.
“The hospitality industry is a competitive market and our customer experience is our competitive advantage. We need to be able to service our clientele with rich application access and absolutely unparalleled service at all times,” said Gabriel Larralde, director of information technology for the Westin Boston Waterfront hotel. “Furthermore, the ambiance in our hotel is tailored to a sophisticated, business class of individuals and the wireless access points and infrastructure must not compromise the aesthetics of our establishment. Our guests want to know that they will receive the highest service in wireless access, without the reminder on how it’s provided to them with unattractive, obtrusive access points. After looking at competing solutions, we determined that Meru’s proven virtualized wireless LAN approach combined with its inconspicuous packaging was an ideal solution for us.”
The Meru Networks i-Series access points (APs) are enterprise wireless products specifically designed for aesthetically demanding enterprise environments while delivering the high performance expected of Meru Networks’ wireless solutions. The first model in the i-Series, the AP320i, is an internal antenna, dual-radio access point that delivers industry leading 802.11n performance in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The new antenna design provides high isolation and space and pattern diversity which improves performance and efficiency. The flagship of Meru’s access points, the AP320i extends all the features of Meru’s Virtual Cell architecture – requiring up to 30% fewer AP devices than legacy systems, roaming free of interruptions, and simple installation – to environments requiring a unique array of low-profile mounting options and unobtrusive design.
“Wireless LAN access points have become ubiquitous in the workplace, and enterprises such as high-end hospitality, financial services and healthcare companies, are turning to Meru Networks to increase user satisfaction with seamless high-speed wireless coverage throughout their properties,” said Ram Appalaraju, senior vice president of marketing at Meru Networks. “Wireless is no longer a nice-to-have. Study Reports Positive Total Economic Impact of Meru’s Virtual Cell Architecture
SUNNYVALE, Calif., January 26, 2010 – Meru Networks, Inc., a pioneer in 802.11n enterprise networking, today announced the results of a commissioned Total Economic Impact (TEI) study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Meru Networks. The study reveals the financial and business benefits achieved by deploying Meru Networks 802.11n virtual-cell wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions as the primary connectivity in the enterprise. Based on a current Meru customer deployment of the company’s virtual cell technology, Forrester concluded a risk-adjusted return on investment (ROI) of 35 percent over a three year period, a pay-back period of 12 months and a cost savings of $1,085,424.
Forrester’s data was gathered directly from an existing Meru customer, a large healthcare network, operating multiple hospitals, clinics and teaching facilities and providing wireless access to more than 750 physicians and other healthcare professionals, totaling 6,000 employees. The report analyzed the Wireless LAN implementation from a cost, ROI, and accessibility perspective and concluded that Meru’s virtual cell architecture achieved the following key benefits:
- Reduces the need for complex and sophisticated site surveys and RF (radio frequency) engineering
- Reduces the cost and number of access points deployed
- Lowers wireless network management and support labor costs
- Increases flexibility in the IT infrastructure, bringing new facilities online quickly
- Enhances network and quality of service for applications, particularly for voice traffic
- Reduces the physical space required for, and complexity of wireless deployment
“The study clearly indicates significant business value and compelling economic results delivered by Meru Networks innovation,” said Ram Appalaraju, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Meru Networks. “For WLANs to continue to push into mainstream, organizations need to be assured seamless WLAN service levels and an immediate return on investment that underscores a cost-efficient and productive wireless environment for business critical environments. We believe TEI report’s findings further reflect Meru’s virtual cell WLANs solutions as the smart choice for business critical wireless systems that significantly reduce OPEX and CAPEX while delivering exceptional user experience.”
Meru commissioned Forrester to conduct this study because of its expertise in the deployment and management of Wireless LAN technology. Forrester’s TEI is a customized methodology which helps to demonstrate a company’s fundamental value proposition and quantify business benefits, thereby enabling enterprise customers to make better, more cost-effective decisions regarding the selection of technology vendors.
